Rubber gym flooring and gym mats in Australia
For a home or light commercial gym, 1m x 1m rubber gym tiles in 10mm or 14mm are the simplest buy. For a fitness club or school gym, the 15mm commercially certified gym tile is the specified product, and recycled rubber rolls suit long runs. All are Australian made and delivered nationwide, including Melbourne.

Which gym flooring do you need?
Home gym or garage
The 10mm domestic gym tile handles racks, bikes and dumbbells on a concrete slab. Go to 14mm if you drop loaded barbells or want more noise reduction for the people below.
Commercial fitness floor
The 15mm commercially certified tile is heavy enough to loose-lay without adhesive, so the floor stays a removable asset if the club relocates. Bevelled perimeter edges reduce trip risk at the boundary.
Under machines and in corridors
Recycled rubber roll at 1000kg per cubic metre density is non-permeable and slip resistant, and can be adhered or loose laid. Use 8mm to 10mm under cardio equipment and 3mm to 5mm as a protective runner.
How to choose rubber gym matting
- Thickness follows the load. Cardio and light free weights: 10mm. Heavy free weights and Olympic lifting: 14mm to 15mm tiles, with a drop zone of double thickness if you need it.
- Tiles or rolls. Tiles are easy to lay, replace and move. Rolls give fewer joins over long runs and under rows of machines, but are heavier to handle.
- Noise and vibration. Rubber density is what quiets a gym. All our gym rubber is polymerically bound recycled rubber; for upstairs floors or mixed-use buildings we recommend asking an acoustic engineer to confirm the build-up.
- Installation. Commercial tiles are designed for loose-lay. Rolls can be adhered for a permanent floor. Professional installation is managed end to end for larger fit-outs.
- Delivery weight. A 15mm commercial tile weighs about 15kg, so a 100 square metre floor is a pallet delivery. We dispatch from Australian and New Zealand warehousing and quote freight per project.
- Odour and finish. Our gym rubber is odourless and comes in black; coloured fleck tiles are available on request.

Frequently asked questions
Where can I buy rubber gym matting in Melbourne?
The Mat Group supplies rubber gym tiles and rolls from Melbourne and delivers Australia-wide. Domestic tiles can be ordered online; commercial floors are quoted with freight and installation. A free site measure is available for Melbourne and Victorian projects.
How thick should rubber gym flooring be?
Use 10mm for cardio and light weights, 14mm to 15mm for free weights and functional training, and add a thicker drop zone where loaded barbells are dropped. Our commercially certified tile is 15mm with bevelled edges.
Are your gym mats made in Australia?
Yes. Both the domestic and the commercially certified gym tiles are Australian made from polymerically bound recycled rubber, and the recycled rubber roll is made from the same material.
Do gym tiles need glue?
No. 1m x 1m tiles are heavy enough to loose-lay, and the commercial 15mm tile is designed to stay removable. Rolls can be adhered where you want a permanent floor.
Can you install gym flooring?
Yes. We deliver Australia-wide and manage professional installation end to end, including after-hours fit-outs and removal of old flooring.
