How to specify recessed entrance matting
- Measure the matwell, not the mat. Give us length, width and depth of the recess. A 12mm ARCHIMAT needs a 12mm to 15mm recess; coir needs 14mm to 30mm depending on the thickness you choose. Our free site measure removes the guesswork.
- Choose the insert for the door. Superguard carpet inserts absorb moisture and come in colours. Coir inserts suit heritage looks. Rubber inserts scrape hardest at exposed doors. Mixed inserts are possible on one mat.
- Think about the frame. Most matwells use an aluminium angle frame. Tell us if the recess is new, existing or needs a frame supplied.
- Allow for drainage and cleaning. Ask for perforated treads where water can pool and plan how the mat rolls back for cleaning.
- Check the slip rating you need. Entrances to public buildings are commonly specified at P4 or P5 under AS 4586. ARCHIMAT with Superguard inserts achieves P5.
- Brand it if you want to. A Superguard Logo Inlay can sit inside the recess or just past it in the interior zone.

Can recessed matting have my logo?
Yes. The Superguard Logo Inlay mat can be made to a recess size, or a printed logo mat can sit just inside the recessed scraper. A free digital proof is supplied before production.
